There are six steps to becoming a Community Champion Volunteer. Discover them all below. 

 

1. Submit an application

If you are interested in becoming a Community Champion Volunteer, make sure to read this article about what the role entails before submitting an application.

Please make sure you understand and agree to the requirements and commitments of the role before applying.

SUBMIT AN APPLICATION

2. Create a Stitch profile 

After a Stitch Community team member has reviewed your application, you will be sent a series of emails guiding you along the remaining five steps of the volunteering journey. Please make sure to regularly check your emails.

If you are not already a Stitch member, you will be asked to sign up and create your Stitch profile. Learn more about creating and completing your Stitch profile.

3. Get verified 

Getting verified is one of the most important things our members and volunteers need to do before they start using Stitch, as it keep the community safe, secure and free of scammers. Learn more about the importance of verification.

4. Create a Stitch Event

Your first Stitch Event should be a social gathering that brings your local community together, for new and existing Stitch members. Learn more about the scheduling and event requirements of hosting your first event

5. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat

Growing and engaging your local community takes time and consistency, that’s why it’s important to host a recurring event for a least 12 months.

Members who attend these monthly events begin to feel connected to everyone else and learn how safe and welcoming the community is. And for many of them, that usually means they start contributing more to the community — attending more events and even hosting some of their own — which means the community starts to become more active and thrives. That’s exactly what we want to happen!

Ideally, volunteers should have at least 3 events scheduled on Stitch at any one time. 

6. Optional: Create a Stitch Group 

Community Champion Volunteers have the option to create Stitch Groups around a particular interest they have, or for their location.
